FOOT MASSAGE.

there's no better way to treat a friend or loved one than to give their sore feet a wonderful foot massage. according to chinese medicine, the sensory nerves of the internal organs that spread throughout the body are mainly gathered around the soles of the feet. therefore, the massage is effective in stimulating the functions of the internal organs. another advantage of this therapy is that there is no risk. :)
reflex points on your feet correspond to your whole body, so stimulating those points helps release tension and gives you a feeling of overall well-being. why not try it at home? could be a fun date night, right? there is a super basic, just-for-fun reflexology chart for you made by erin jang and joanna goddard. look up your partner's ailment - headache? stuffy nose? - and see if you can foot-massage it away! :)

THREE THINGS I'M GRATEFUL FOR.

what are three things you're grateful for today?
peti and i are keeping a gratitude journal. each day we write down three things that made us grateful that day. it helps to increase happiness. as jason marsh from greater good - the science of a meaningful life sais: "studies have traced a range of impressive benefits to the simple act of writing down the things for which we’re grateful - benefits including better sleep, fewer symptoms of illness, and more happiness among adults and kids alike."

what about you? what are you grateful for today?

mi az, amiért te ma hálás vagy?

THE ADVANTAGES OF READING BOOKS.

lately i read an article that said 1 in 4 adults read no books last year. that means 25% of the adults don't read books. this is ridiculous...
if you are one of the non-book readers, here are some great reasons to start the habit!

1. reading "trains" your brain – unlike TV, books make you to use your brain. by reading, you think more and become smarter.
2. it is a skill builder - books help to understand difficult subjects. they provide information that goes deeper than just classroom discussion.
3. improves your vocabulary – while reading books you will find yourself exposed to many new words. the meaning of new words can easily be inferred by reading the context.
4. you get to know other cultures and places – what is your favorite vacation spot? you could find a book about that place. choose a book with an informational character if you would like to know the actual state of the place or choose a historical novel which offers you an interesting insight to the history of the area.
5. improves concentration and focus – reading books takes brain power: you have to focus on what you are reading for long periods.
6. your self-esteem will grow – by reading more books, you will be well informed. it's a good feeling which builds self-esteem.
7. improves memory – if you won't use your memory, you will lose it. reading helps you "stretch your memory muscles" - it requires remembering details, facts, themes and characters.
8. you can take them anywhere – books are portable :-)
9. improves creativity – by reading more books and getting more and more information, you will be able to come up with creative ideas. if there's a problem at work, maybe you'll be the one who solve it. if you read many books on the subject, you will be able to combine lessons from all of them into new solutions.
10. gives you something to talk about – if you read a lot of books, you’ll always have something to talk about. you can discuss various plots in the novels you read, or discuss the stuff you are learning in the business books...
11. you can learn at your own pace – while formal education requires time commitments, books have no late-bells or hourly commitments.
12. you’ll discover surprises - as you read more books as a source of information, you’ll learn stuff you weren’t looking for. since so many subjects intertwine it’s almost impossible not to learn something other than the book’s subject.
13. decreases boredom – if you’re bored anyway, you might as well be reading a good book, right?
14. increases vocabulary – it’s no secret that reading increases your vocabulary and improves your spelling, but did you know that reading increases your vocabulary more than talking or direct teaching?
15. can change your life – some books can open our eyes to a whole new way of thinking.
16. reduces stress - after a stressful day a book can easily distract you. psychologists believe this is because the human mind has to concentrate on reading and the distraction of being taken into a literary world eases the tensions in muscles and the heart.
17. gets you away from digital distractions – If you, like many others, feel overwhelmed with the flashing lights, beeps, boops and ring-a-dings that burn up our computing lives, then give books a chance. when you find some good books, you’ll find yourself drawn into the story. you’ll want to spend more time reading.
18. the book is always better than the movie – there have been some great films made from books, but typically, movie versions of books tend to frustrate readers because they are not just like the book.
when reading, a person is creating his or her own movie in a sense, and he or she decides many of the important parts: how the characters speak, what they look like and what their surroundings look like. this process of imagining and interpreting as a reader is a creative process that is distinctly different from viewing a film.

what are the best books you have read? was there a title that changed your life?
please tell me about it in the comments below.
